I have given myself the challenge of trying to create more order in my life. There are areas where I manage well and others where I fail dismally and cause me stress. I would love nothing more, than to have routines and habits that enable life to just flow better. I am hoping that by posting everyday the various areas that need I feel improvement, that it will keep me accountable and I will achieve my to do list for once in my life.
Tuesday’s theme is Tasks. Most of these are practical tasks, things that need doing. With it being November, Christmas will definitely feature, but there will be other tasks that need doing.
So I’m starting with Christmas preparation.
Christmas can always be a major stress in anyone’s life, and I like to be organised as much as possible, before the children break up on holiday. This year, we are heading to South Africa to visit my family, this gives me a bit more grace when it comes to their gifts as I don’t need to post them. But I will need to be organised to send the parcels to my in laws and M who is unable to join us this year due to work commitments.
There are some lovely printables available out there, so I’m not going to create my own.
This one looks very useful.
Create a gift list of who you need to give to. I have a fair number of family birthdays in November and December, so I include their birthday gifts onto the list. Create some ideas of what you’d like to get them. Decide on a budget.
I tend to buy things throughout the year, so I also corroborate the gifts with the gift list, to see what I still need.
Things to do:
Plan when you’re going to get the various things done by- Christmas cards, gifts wrapped, posting dates, turkey purchase.
Plan Traditions/ activities you want to do over the break- I would love to continue our tradition of advent activities. I will try and keep it low key- so to actually be able to achieve it.
Plan a Christmas Shopping Trip or have an idea which stores will have the gifts you want so they can be tagged onto other shopping trips.
South Africa requires all entering with children to have their full birth certificates and as ‘A’ isn’t travelling with me, I need an affidavit stating that I have his permission to travel with the children. One of the main things that I need to do is book an appointment at the British consulate for us to get the affidavit so I can fly to SA.
So my challenges for today:
- Create a gift list.
- Plan when I’m going Christmas Shopping and wrapping.
- Find a packing list printable.
- Book the appointment with the Consulate.
- Create a list of what we would like to do while in South Africa.
Hmmmm, this was supposed to be my small task day….
