I’m still struggling with various aches ‘n pains- so the first exploration with my friends was close to home. 3km from school to be exact! To a most surreal place.
Meguro Sky Garden is a garden with an area of 7000 square meters, that has been created on top of a spiralling intersection linking the elevated Shuto expressway with the underground Central Circular C2 Expressway.
At ground level in the middle of the spiral, is an all weather sports pitch, a token gesture playground and a giant sandpit. When we visited, the local crèche had bought about 20 3-year olds to enjoy the facilities.
The garden is on the roof of the intersection, and while ball games and such things are forbidden, relaxing and enjoying the gardens, going for a jog or stretching your pet’s legs (as long as they’re on a leash) is all allowed.
Surprisingly, considering what it is, the sound of traffic wasn’t disturbing!
From the top, we could faintly see the outline of Mt Fuji. Roll on winter when the air is clear and we can enjoy her view again!
This was a great little side trip and well worth a visit.
