My children (read J) are enjoying making various animals out of paper plates. We have made various so far and these posts are a basic ‘How To’.
3 Paper plates
Cotton bud or small white round stickers
2 large White round stickers (or googly eyes)
‘Flatten’ one of the paper plates.
Paint it red/ pink.
Paint the the underneath side of the other two paper plates. (Blue-grey colour)
Leave to dry.
Once dry, copy the template below onto the ‘eating’ side of the plate.
Cut out the body parts.
Take the dorsal fin and the head plate.
Cut a slit on the head plate (about 3cm in length)
Place the dorsal fin in the slit and decide how tall you want it.
Turn the head plate over and the underneath bit of the dorsal fin should be standing proud. Cut this part down the middle, and flatten in opposite directions. This should help the dorsal fin to stand upright. Staple in place.
Take the body and attach to the head, where the dorsal fin is. Cut the head so the body flows gently into the head.
Using the cotton bud, or stickers, put small white dots all over the body and head.
Make 2 round circles for the eyes if painting the eyes.
Cut a slit at the end of the body and insert the tail.
Secure with sticky tape if desired.
Attach the eyes (if using googly eyes) or draw in the pupils with the marker pen.
Staple the dorsal fins to the side of the body.
Et Voila! One whale shark to cruise round your home…
