Last year,in my post entitled ‘A Focused Year’, I wrote about how I was creating a mission statement and how I planned to set goals for 2013.
Well I was focused for the first 5 months of the year and I managed a lot of my goals- seeing parts of Japan, spending time with my family, doing my my hobbies. But then June happened….
For those of you who follow me, you’ll remember my series about being in Limbo land and my post ‘Ask and it will be given to you’, both posts describing how we came to being in Japan for longer than the planned 4 months.
Well the rest of the year kind of followed like this…
June-house hunting in Japan
July and August– packing up our house in the UK, moving to Japan (again)
September– adjusting to new house and environs.
October– car hunting and our stuff arriving.
November– Christmas preparation and chicken pox. (3 children)
December– Christmas mayhem at school, bronchitis during the holidays. (2 adults and 1 child)
Resulting in me not achieving as many of my goals as I would have liked.
But no worries…
This year, I have a lot more goals. Maybe I have too many, but I would rather aim high and reach most, than aim low and achieve all. All my goals are based round the word Nourish. Possibly because we have been so ill recently, possibly because I am wanting to spend more time in the kitchen, but Nourish is the word that I am choosing for 2014.
Nourishing Soul – goals about my faith, my hobbies, my relationships with my husband, children, family and friends
Nourishing Body– goals about cooking and eating, exercise, sleep and other health related things.
Nourishing Mind– goals about books I want to read, places I want to visit, courses I want to attend, skills I want to develop.
It is a pretty big list of goals, and they are more of a ‘bucket list’ than a list of smart targets, but I believe that they will work for me and give me some purpose and drive for 2014.
What have you chosen for 2014?
