‘It’s Weird’

‘It’s weird’
‘Surreal’
‘Like time hasn’t passed’

Those are my answers to the question ‘How does it feel to be back?’

We have been back for just over a week now and it is lovely!
I haven’t slept this well in 10 months, despite the jet lag and 3-year-old coming through at 5:30am. It isn’t as hot as what Japan was, despite the fact that England are finally experiencing summer! And everywhere I go, they speak English! I have my own transport!(Now that I have had the mildew cleared off!) and I can buy large trolley loads of food!

But it is weird.

Japan seems like a dream. Like returning from a holiday- once you are back in your everyday life, the holiday seems like a dream. I know that I will be returning to that dream- but I am finding it hard to imagine…

I have returned here and continued with my life that I had before….
Get up….feed kids….put on a load of washing….tidy house…. hang out the washing….potter in the garden…. walk the dog…. stop her eating the kids lunch…..buy food…. catch up with friends….cook supper….bath the kids… fold the washing while watching tv….

This is how my adorable mutt watches tv!)

It all seems strange to think that its only temporary. It feels so natural. When I chat to my friends, it seems like no time has passed at all.
It all seems quite surreal.
Quite weird.

Needless to say I shall savour every surreal, weird moment because it won’t be long before I am on a plane for the next phase of our Japanese Journey.

About Cheryl

I am a child of God, a wife and a mother of 4 children. Some days are good. Some days are frustrating. Some days are just plain insane. In between the mayhem, I loved to go for walks with our mutt, potter in the garden and enjoy the beauty that surrounded us. That all changed in August 2012 when we waved goodbye to our mutt and garden, our eldest at Uni in Gloucester and moved to Tokyo for 4 months. And yes- we are still here...
